Raymond and Huber Upset in Montreal Semis

(August 11, 2012)—Top-seeded World No. 1’s
Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber
were upset by
Nadia Petrova
on Saturday in Montreal for the second time in two weeks.
The American duo lost the bronze medal match to Petrova and
Maria Kirilenko
a week ago at the Olympics. Saturday, they fell at the Rogers Cup to Petrova paired with
Katarina Srebotnik
of Slovakia.
Srebotnik owns 30 career doubles titles, and recently held the No. 1 ranking in the world (July 4, 2011).
Srebotnik and Petrova won 17 of 29 points against
Huber
and
Raymond’s
serve, and converted 4 of 11 break points, including three in the second set.
Petrova, a former No. 3 doubles player in the world, owns 20 doubles titles.
Petrova and Srebotnik will face a Polish-French duo in the final. Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Kristina Mladenovic are unseeded. The duo own two combined career titles.
The winning pair earns $110K.
