(February 26th, 2012) Once again, top seed David Ferrer played the role of spoiler at the Copa Claro event in Buenos Aires.

First it was his knocking out of sentimental favorite Fernando Gonzalez and then his defeat of Argentina's own David Nalbandian in the semifinals. Today, it was fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro's turn to feel disappointment after having an early chance to not only win the title, but finally defeat Ferrer after eight previous tries.

Almagro, who was the event's defending champion, jumped out to an early break lead at 4-2 which propelled him in taking the first set. But Ferrer settled into his game and took control of the match, only facing one break point for the rest of the day.

In the third set, Almagro only won 36% of his second serve points allowing Ferrer to run away with the final set and the match for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Ferrer now owns two titles in 2012 after having won Auckland last month and improves his record in finals to 13-14 lifetime.
