Karolina Muchova edged 2023 champion Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Friday in Linz to book a semifinal slot at the WTA 500 event.

Potapova responded after dropping the first set, then had a chance to break to get back on serve as Muchova held fast to finish off the two hour and eleven-minute encounter.

Muchova saved 11 of 12 break points in all, and was helped by nine aces.

"It was a very tough match," Muchova said after her win. "She played really great. I lost a bit of focus in the second set, and she just took a chance. I'm glad I managed it. Even the last game, it could've gone either way if she broke me.”

Muchova, bidding for her seventh career WTA final, will face two-time Linz finalist Ekaterina Alexandrova on Saturday. The Russian got past cagey Petra Martic, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Alexandrova saved 13 of 14 break points to win for the first time in three tries against the Croatian. She stared down all 11 break points she faced across the final two sets to get the win.

Dayana Yastremska will meet Clara Tauson in the lower-half semifinal.
