Wang Xiyu and Yuan Yue will contest an all-Chinese final on Saturday at the ATX Open.
Wang defeated top-seeded Anhelina Kalinina 6-3, 7-6(4) to power into her second career ATP final. The 22-year-old, who won her maiden title at Guangzhou last year, clocked 24 winners to just eight for Kalinina.
Wang broke open a tight first set, taking the final three games, then rallied from a break down in a rollercoaster second set to eventually take it in a tiebreak.
Yuan, playing her third career WTA semifinal, reached her first WTA Final with a 6-0, 6-3 takedown of Anna Karolina Schmiedlova. The 25-year-old World No.68. She won the first eight games of the contest and never let up.
Schmiedlova pushed down the stretch, earning three break points with Yuan serving at 4-1, then finally broke to trim the lead to 5-3, but Yuan broke in the final game to close the contest in one hour and 12 minutes.
Wang and Yuan have never met before at tour-level.
