21-year-old Hailey Baptiste notched her second consecutive win over Karolina Pliskova on Monday at the Guadalajara Open Akron.

21-year-old Hailey Baptiste was one of four Americans to advance on Monday at the 1000-level Guadalajara Akron Open, the D.C. native toppling former World No.1 Karolina Pliskova 7-6(5), 5-7, 7-6(4) in two hours and 50 minutes for her fourth career Top-50 win.
Baptiste, ranked 173, was one of three women to reach the round of 16 on a busy day in Mexico.
7th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova, who defeated Genie Bouchard 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-4, and Martina Trevisan, who knocked off 15th-seeded Jasmine Paolini 7-5, 6-2, also reached the round of 16.
Baptiste has now defeated Pliskova twice in two months. She will face either third-seeded Caroline Garcie or Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
Sofia Kenin (d. Carol Zhao), Emma Navarro (d. Maria Mateas) and Caroline Dolehide (d. Peyton Stearns) also reached the second round on Monday in Guadalajara, making it eight Americans into the second round.
