Leylah Fernandez rallied past Czech Katerina Siniakova to claim her third career title on Sunday in Hong Kong. The 60th-ranked Canadian, making her debut in Hong Kong, battled valiantly from a set down against the World No.85, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 .

After dropping the first set Fernandez jumped out to a 4-0 lead in set two and held down the fort through a 10-deuce game as she held for 5-3. She served out the sets two game later, but was not out of hot water.

Despite a left leg injury, which Siniakova needed to see the trainer for, the Czech rallied from a break down as the pair marched into the business end of the set at 4-all.

From there Fernandez took charge, breaking in her third break point of the ninth game to lead 5-4 before serving out the win with a hold to 30.

"We had a very, very hard past couple of years," Fernandez said after the two hour and 49-minute final. "My family, my parents, my coach, and my performance coach stayed by my side," Fernandez said. "They motivated me to keep going and the hard work is paying off. Hopefully, we can keep going this way."

Fernandez wins her first title since March of 2022 (Monterrey) and improves to 24-19 overall on the season.

2023 Bad Homburg champion Siniakova drops to 17-17 on the year.
