Day 2 of Roland-Garros kicked it up a notch with Djokovic, Alcaraz and many others taking to the terre battue. Here's our daily by the numbers rundown...
19-0 – Novak Djokovic has never lost a first-round match at Roland-Garros. The two-time champion took out Aleks Kovacevic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(1), to improve to 86-16 lifetime on the terre battue of Paris.
33-11 – Sloane Stephens’ career record at Roland-Garros. The American rolled past Karolina Pliskova on Court Philippe-Chatrier 6-0, 6-4. Stephens, the 2018 runner-up, has made the second week in eight of her first 11 appearances at RG.
1 – Number of Top 10 wins recorded by Fabio Fognini at Roland-Garros. The Italian defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime on Court Simonne-Mathieu, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. He entered the tournament with an 0-5 record against the Top 10 at the French Open. He improves to 3-13 against the Top 10 at the Slams overall.
192 – The ranking of Elina Svitolina, who was outside of the top 1000 at the beginning of May, rolled past 26th-seeded Martina Trevisan, 6-2 6-2, to improve to 10-0 in first-round matches at Roland-Garros.
4:35 – The duration of Stan Wawrinka’s 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-7(2), 1-6, 6-4 victory over Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Court 14. The 38-year-old wins his first match at Roland-Garros since 2020 and improves to 45-16 overall.
The 2015 champion earns his 30th five-set win.
11 – Adding to the Wawrinka magic, the Swiss has set the record for five-set wins at Roland-Garros by earning his 11th overall. He passes Stan Wawrinka and Harold Solomon, who each have 10.
