Top-seeded Caroline Garcia has won all eight sets she has played at Monterrey, and she’ll play Donna Vekic for the title on Sunday.
Garcia improved to 15-5 on Saturday by easing past Elise Mertens, 6-4, 6-3. The Frenchwoman has dropped her last two decisions against Vekic, and owns a 4-5 head-to-head against the Croatian.
Garcia is bidding for her 12th career title, while Vekic is bidding for her fourth.
Vekic was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over China’s Lin Zhu on Saturday. It has been a strong start to 2023 for Vekic. She reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and improved to 13-2 with today’s win.
