Last April, former Wimbledon girls' champion Potapova defeated Veronika Kudermetova, 6-3, 6-1, to lock down her maiden WTA title in Istanbul. En route to the Istanbul title, Potapova beat Martic on the red clay last April.
It was the most lopsided match Potapova played this week.
Four of Potapova's five Linz wins went the three-set limit, including a 6-1, 6-7(4), 6-3 win over Roland Garros runner-up Marketa Vondrousova in yesterday's semifinals.
Playing on the faster Linz hard court today, Potapova made Martic pay for nearly every missed serve.
Potapova won 19 of 26 points played on Martic's second serve and permitted just eight points on her own second serve.
This victory propels Potapova 13 spots up the rankings to a new career-high ranking of No. 31 in the live rankings.
