Iga Swiatek took home player of the year honors, while the fabled Czech duo of Krejcikova and Siniakova were honored for their doubles.

Iga Swiatek has won the WTA’s Player of the Year award for 2022. The Polish sensation, who racked up a 37-match winning streak and won two major titles this season, is the first woman from her country to win the award.

Swiatek won eight titles and went 67-9 on the year as she established herself as a dominant World No.1, taking the place of retired Ash Barty on April 4 and holding the tour's top-ranking to her first year-end No.1 finish.


Doubles Team of the Year: Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova

Krejcikova and Siniakova won all three majors they played in 2022, as they win the award for the third time and the second time in succession.

Most Improved Player of the Year: Beatriz Haddad Maia

Haddad Maia was one of the most lethal players on tour this summer, when she won back-to-back titles at Nottingham and Birmingham. She posted a career-high ranking of 15.

Newcomer of the Year: Zheng Qinwen

China’s Zheng Qinwen made her debut at all four Slams and won at least a match at all of them. She reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros and finishes the season with a ranking of 27 – up from 143 at the end of last season.

Comeback Player of the Year: Tatjana Maria

After taking time away from summer 2020 to July 2021 to give birth to her second child Cecilia, Tatjana Maria returned to make a big splash in 2022. She reached the Wimbledon semifinal. She went from 279 to 68 in the year-end ranking from 2021 to 2022.

Coach of the Year, as voted on by WTA registered coaches: David Witt

The former coach of Venus Williams guided American Jessica Pegula to her best season on tour. Pegula finishes 2022 ranked at a career-high ranking of No.3 – she reached the WTA Finals in singles and doubles.

Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award: Gabriela Dabrowski

Jerry Diamond ACES Award: Maria Sakkari
