David Goffin is hitting his stride in Asia.
And his forward momentum just might take him to London.
The 26-year-old has now notched back-to-back titles in Shenzhen and Tokyo to climb to seventh in the Race to London standings.
Goffin’s 6-3, 7-5 victory over France’s Adrian Mannarino lifted the Belgian into a temporary tie atop the ATP’s hardcourt win list with Rafael Nadal. The Belgian improved to 33-11 on hardcourts with the win; Nadal will bid for his 34th hardcourt win of 2017 later this evening when he faces Nick Kyrgios in the Beijing final.
The No.4-seed won 15 of 26 second serve return points and rallied from a break down in set two to claim his victory in one hour at 23 minutes.
Goffin earns his first career 500-level title and his 4th overall with the win. He will return to the ATP’s Top 10 at No.10 in the world next week.
Mannarino drops to 0-4 lifetime in finals.
