Court craft, shrewd shot selection and guile make Agnieszka Radwanska one of tennis’ trickiest players.

Alize Cornet applied a soft touch to carve up the supreme problem solver today.

Backing Radwanska up with deep drives, Cornet befuddled her with soft drop shots tearing into the Roland Garros fourth round with a 6-2, 6-1 dissection that thrilled home fans.

Three Frenchwomen are into the fourth round for the first time in 23 years and Cornet aims to ride the wave of energy emanating from French fans.

"I think the crowd is going to be excited," Cornet said. "We will try to give them a good show, a good game. The crowd support is like a bonus, an extra energy."

Radwanska had won seven of her prior eight meetings with Cornet, but was forced to counter off her back foot for much of the match.

The ninth-seeded Radwanska did not hold serve in the match.

Cornet converted seven of 11 break points and reeled off six straight games closing a lopsided conquest in 79 minutes.

It is Cornet’s second trip to the round of 16 in the last three years.

Reigning Roland Garros doubles champion Caroline Garcia fired off eight aces fighting off Su-Wei Hsieh, 6-4, 4-6, 9-7, in a two hour, 39-minute thriller.

The 28th-seeded Garcia battled into a Grand Slam fourth round for the first time in 21 major appearances setting up an intriguing all-French fourth-round encounter with Cornet.

Garcia joins her 2016 Roland Garros doubles partner, 13th-seeded Kristina Mladenovic, and Cornet as one of three Frenchwomen into the fourth round.

It's the first time since 1994 that three Frenchwomen reached the last 16.

Mary Pierce, Julie Halard and wild card Alexia Dechaume contested the French Open fourth round back in 1994.

The 10th-seeded Radwanska was playing her first tournament in five weeks after suffering a right foot injury that sidelined her for much of the spring clay-court season.

Cornet effectively played high and heavy topspin to push Radwanska back then deployed the drop shot with devastating effect.
