The players entry list for Roland Garros 2020 was just announced, but there’s still many lingering questions on who might actually show up in Paris in a few weeks time.
On the men’s side, defending champion Rafael Nadal is the top seed for the men’s draw as he seeks to win a 13th career title at the French Open. Also included are Novak Djokovic, and two-time finalist Dominic Thiem.

The most notable absences from the men’s list include Roger Federer, who is not playing this season while recovering from knee surgery, and Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, who has been critical of any tournament taking place during the pandemic.
On the women’s side, World No. 1 and defending champion Ash Barty is included on the list. However, her participation is still up in the air after recent comments she made about playing events in the current situation. Barty chose not to compete at this year’s US Open.
Players not on the entry list include Saisai Zheng, Carla Suarez Navarro, Lin Zhu, Yafan Wang, Anastasia Potapova, Sam Stosur, Shuai Peng, Xiyu Wang.
This year’s Roland Garros event will be held from Sunday, September 27 to Sunday, October 11. The opening round is exactly two weeks after the US Open men’s final will take place on September 13.
Event organizers in Paris are planning similar safety protocols for players as seen in New York, but a limited amount of spectators will also be allowed on site.
