Rafael Nadal was reduced to tears as he sat on his chair watching a tribute video the US Open prepared for him after he claimed his fourth US Open and 19th Grand Slam title in New York.

It was a beautiful, poignant moment for a player that gives all of his heart and soul to the sport--and his millions of fans who live and die by his tennis.

The Spaniard had to work hard to get the victory—and he let out his emotions after the match like he never has before. Perhaps it’s a sign that they are even sweeter as he ages.

“All these special matches, if these kind of matches in the final of Grand Slam makes the match more special, no?” Nadal said. “The way that the match became very dramatic at the end, that makes this day unforgettable, part of my history of this sport. Just very happy. This trophy means everything to me today. Personal satisfaction the way that I resisted all these tough moments is very high. Just I normally try to hold the emotions, but at the end for all these facts have been impossible today.”
