Simona Halep did just fine without Darren Cahill as her full-time coach in 2019, thank you. Maybe she’ll do even better in 2020, because Cahill and Halep will be back together for the full season.
The Romanian, who claimed her second major title in as many years at Wimbledon this summer, announced that she and Cahill will be back for 2020 on social media on Friday.
“After a year without him on my team, I’m happy to announce that Darren will be back on my side next season,” Halep said. “Can’t wait to finish what we started.”
Cahill worked for nearly four years by Halep’s side, guiding her to the No.1 ranking and her maiden major triumph in 2018 at Roland Garros. The pair split last November, with Cahill citing the need for more family time.
