Novak Djokovic left this year’s US Open in heartbreaking fashion. The Serb had to withdraw from his round of 16 tilt against Stan Wawrinka with a shoulder injury, while trailing two sets to love.

But hope springs eternal for the 16-time major title holder. It might not be too long until we see Djokovic on court again, as the Serb (holder of 75 ATP titles) took to social media to say that he hopes that he can return to the ATP Tour at some point during the Asian Swing.

Djokovic has always had tremendous success in Asia, and more specifically, China. The 33-year-old owns an 11-0 career finals record in China, winning Shanghai four times, Beijing six times, and the 2008 Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai. Djokovic owns a 69-9 career record in China (56-4 since start of 2009 Beijing).

This year the World No.1 has plans to play the Rakuten Japan Open in Tokyo, which begins on September 30, but it is unclear if he will be fit enough to do so.

“My health is always the top priority and as soon as I’m ready, I’ll be back,” said Djokovic

Djokovic has earned more trophies (11) than losses (9)in China. Djokovic is 29-0 lifetime at Beijing, and 32-4 lifetime at Shanghai.
