Former World No.3 David Ferrer is set to take over as the tournament director at the Barcelona Open next year. The Spaniard, who ended his playing career in 2019 with a total of 734 victories and 27 titles, will take over for Albert Costa.
Costa, who held the role in Barcelona for the last 11 seasons is taking another position at the Davis Cup.
“From these 11 years, I have great memories, like seeing Rafa Nadal win eight times here,” Costa said in a statement according to ATPWorldTour.com. “It has been something extraordinary. I want to thank the two boards of directors for the trust they have had in me and, above all, the phenomenal professional team behind them.”
