World No. 28 Sabine Lisicki’s season has come to an abrupt end. The German announced on Facebook earlier this week that she’d be skipping the Asian Swing to continue with the rehabilitation of a injury that has plagued her recently.
Lisicki last played at the US Open where she bowed out to Simona Halep in three sets in the round of 16. Though she did not specify which knee was injured, she had her left knee taped during that match and appeared to be struggling with it.
Lisicki finishes the season with a 22-20 record that includes semifinals at Indian Wells and at Birmingham. The German also broke the WTA’s all-time record for aces in a single match with 27 in Birmingham. broke the WTA’s all-time record for aces in a single match with 27 in Birmingham.
