Bianca Andreescu withdrew from the WTA Finals Shenzhen due to the left knee injury she suffered yesterday.
The US Open champion injured her knee after landing awkwardly during her match against Karolina Pliskova.
Andreescu: I Heard My Knee Crack
Andreescu, who pulled the plug after losing the opening set 6-3, underwent an MRI earlier today and told the media "unfortunately the results show that I need to withdraw."
Alternate Sofia Kenin will replace Andreescu in the field and play defending champion Elina Svitolina in the Purple Group.
"I heard my knee crack," Andreescu said during her post-match press conference yesterday. "It kind of went inwards and putting pressure afterwards on it really bothered me. I could barely bend my knee."
