School Sends Kyrgios to Detention for Bad Behavior

Nick Kyrgios' behavior has earned him a stint in detention at his former school.

Kyrgios' picture has been temporarily removed from the Radford College Hall of Fame because of his antics, Radford principal Fiona Godfrey told The Sydney Morning Herald.

The 20-year-old Aussie is "on detention" from the Radford Hall of Fame, though principal Godfrey is confident Kyrgios will win his way back into good standing at his old school.

"He's had a temporary departure from the hall, he's actually on detention in the director of sport's office at the moment and we're keeping him there until his behavior improves — which we're very confident that will happen given that he was a Radford student," Godfrey told the Sydney Morning Herald. "But at the moment while he's not a particularly good role model for the other students, he's on detention.

"I was speaking to the director of sport who said he can remember him vividly. He was a lovely bloke at school and he also vividly remembers him playing a large tennis competition involving staff and funnily enough he won it."

Kyrgios was hit with a $1,500 fine for audible obscenity during his 6-3, 6-2 win over Andreas Haider-Maurer in Shanghai last week. The world No. 30 could be hit with a 28-day ban if he exceeds $5,000 in fines at ATP events through February 24th.

Kyrgios can win his way back into the Hall of Fame with positive results and behavior.

"He only has to string together a few good tournaments and we'll be happy to put him back up there," principal Radford told the Sydney Morning Herald.
