China has been good to Novak Djokovic. Very, VERY good. This year it helped catapult the world No. 1 past Rafael Nadal for the biggest prize money haul in a single season.

More: Djokovic Downs Tsonga for 25th Masters 1000 title in Shanghai

Thanks to back-to-back titles in Beijing and Shanghai, Djokovic has now earned $16,041,009 for the season, giving him $88,444,918 for his career. That leaves him just over $6 million behind Roger Federer’s all-time ATP record of $94,777,963.

Nadal, who set the single-season record in a glorious 2013, earned $14.5 while capturing three major titles that season.

“I think in terms of the two tournaments back to back weeks, this has been the best two weeks of my life, my career,” Djokovic said after defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Shanghai final. “I think I've played the best tennis ever in these two weeks in terms of back to back. Honestly, that's how I felt.”

The 28-year-old has now won 17 consecutive matches and 22 consecutive sets, and he’s boosted his career title count to 57 by adding nine in 2015.

With titles in Paris and the World Tour Finals at London, Djokovic could finish close to $19 million in prize money earnings. He is the defending champion at both events. Next week the Serb will move into a tie for 5th on the ATP’s all-time list for weeks at No. 1 with 170.
