Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

During Rafael Nadal’s 7-5, 6-3 victory over Fabio Fognini on Saturday in Beijing, things got a little strange in the second set.

After Nadal won a point, a frustrated Fognini tossed his racquet and nearly hit a linesperson (in his defense, he looked as if he meant to toss it into the ground, but it slipped), and was given a code violation.

After Fognini complained about the code violation, cameras cut to Nadal’s coach and uncle to get his reaction. Naturally, he wasn’t all that thrilled.

Nadal advances to his first hard-court final since April of 2014 with the win, and he’ll face either Novak Djokovic or David Ferrer for the title.
