Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

Things didn’t go as planned on this serve for Kei Nishikori in Paris. They say tennis players should have a loose grip while serving but Nishikori takes it to a new, and dangerous (at least for the racquet) level on this point. Richard Gasquet makes the slice return for an easy winner, and all Kei would do was smile.

Unfortunately Nishikori had to retire from the match versus Gasquet with ab/ back pain:

But Japan's No. 1 says he'll be more than ready to go for next week's ATP World Tour Finals. After seeing doctors in Paris this week, Nishikori was given the all clear. “Kei saw the doctor’s in Paris and all the test came back fine,” his agent wrote in an email. “He is 100% ok for London. Kei will arrive in London one week early and will start practicing to get ready for the last tournament of the season.”
