British Squad Named for Davis Cup Final

The British team that will take on host Belgium in the Davis Cup final is taking shape.

Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, James Ward, Kyle Edmund and Dominic Inglot have been named to Great Britain's travel squad for the November 27-29th final at the Flanders Exo in Ghent, Belgium, the LTA announced.

“To represent your country at the Davis Cup Final is a huge honor and will be a new experience for me and all of the team," Andy Murray said. "I’m really excited about the tie in Belgium, they have some very talented players who will make this a tough contest. We have had amazing support from our fans in the previous ties and I know the ones travelling for the final will play their part.”

British captain Leon Smith is scheduled to announce the official final four member team later today.

Andy Murray defeated Bernard Tomic to seal Britain's Davis Cup semifinal victory over Australia and clinch its first trip to the Davis Cup final in 37 years. The Glasgow-born Murray gave his hometown—and nation— cause for celebration contributing all three points in clinching Team GB's Davis Cup semifinal conquest of Australia at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow in September.

Hall of Famer Fred Perry led Great Britain to its last Davis Cup championship way back in 1936. Murray, who is 8-0 in Davis Cup play this season, will try to bring the Cup back to Britain later this month.
