Fognini shared shots of their recent practice session on social media as well as a photo of him presenting a tennis racquet to the late, great Argentinean soccer legend Diego Maradona.
Former world No. 8 Mancini has coached Guillermo Coria, Marian Puerta, Nicolas Lapentti and Pablo Cuevas previously.
The 33-year-old Fognini reached a career-high rank of No. 9 in July of 2019, but struggled to a 6-10 record in 2020. After reaching the Australian Open round of 16 last January, Fognini fell in the opening round in five of his final six events of the season.
