Wozniacki Rejects Apology From Sharapova's Agent

Maria Sharapova was denied a Roland Garros wild card, but bad blood between Sharapova's camp and Caroline Wozniacki continues.

Former world No. 1 Wozniacki rejected an email apology from Sharapova's IMG agent, Max Eisenbud, who publicly mocked the Dane and former Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska as "journeyman player who have never won a Slam and the next generation (is) passing them."

Wozniacki told The Times Eisenbud's apology is "useless" because he did not make it publicly after making his initial critical statement to the media.

"If he were really sorry, he'd have gone publicly to the media where he called me a journeyman and said that he'd made a mistake," Wozniacki told The Times. "So that apology is useless."

Wozniacki, Radwanska, Dominika Cibulkova, Kristina Mladenovic and Andy Murray were among several players who publicly opposed tournaments awarding wild cards to Sharapova following her 15-month drug suspension after testing positive for the banned drug meldonium.

In retaliation, Eisenbud lashed back at Wozniacki in an interview with journalist Ben Rothenberg and was later reprimanded by the WTA Tour for his cutting comments.

The two-time US Open finalist called Sharapova's wild cards "disrespectful to the other players and the WTA" and said "rules are twisted and turned in favor of who wants to do what."
