French player Maxime Hamou has been banned from Roland Garros after grabbing and kissing a TV journalist during an interview.

"The management of the tournament has decided to revoke Maxime Hamou’s accreditation following his reprehensible behavior with a journalist yesterday,” the French Tennis Federation said in statement.

Following his first-round loss to 22nd-seeded Pablo Cuevas yesterday, the 287th-ranked Hamou was approached for an interview by Eurosport's Maly Thomas.

As Thomas, standing to the Frenchman's left, tried to conduct the interview, the 21-year-old Parisian wrapped his left arm around Thomas' shoulder, pulled her closer and began kissing her on the neck and face while studio analyst Henri Leconte chuckled and clapped.

Hamou answered one question while holding Thomas' shoulder then pulled her close and again began trying to kiss her before she was able to extricate herself.

Hamou, who won three matches in qualifying to earn a sport in his first career Grand Slam main draw, has not yet commentated on his ban.
