Elina Svitolina had a bit of trouble hanging on to her trophy after claiming the Internazionali BNL d’Italia title on Sunday. Hopefully the new World No.6 won’t have as much trouble hanging on to her new spot in the WTA’s Road to Singapore standings.

Svitolina comes in at No.1 this week, jumping ten spots to move just ahead of Karolina Pliskova in the race to the WTA Finals. Svitolina, who leads the WTA in victories with 31 on the season, climbs to No.6 in the conventional rankings from No.11, and is less than 100 points shy of No.5. She does have Round of 16 points to defend at Roland Garros this year, but World No.5 Garbiné Muguruza will have a more difficult time defending her championship points.

Muguruza climbed from No.7 to No.5 based on her semifinal at Rome. The Spaniard is currently No.12 in the race.

There were a few other rankings climbers on Monday. Anett Kontaveit rose 16 spots to reach a career-high ranking of No.52, while Mona Barthel jumped from No.60 to No.47.

17-year-old Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic won her fourth ITF title of the season and makes her Top 100 debut at No.94.

Australia’s Daria Gavrilova climbed eight spots to No.25, just one shy of a career-high, after a quarterfinal in Rome.

American CiCi Bellis also makes her Top-50 debut at No.46.
