Defending Roland Garros champ Novak Djokovic and nine-time champion Rafael Nadal have been placed into the same half of this year’s men’s singles draw.
But the toughest draw goes to top-seeded Andy Murray, who could face Juan Martin del Potro in the third round.
The Scotsman, a runner-up last year in Paris, has gone just 4-4 on the clay this season. He’ll open with Russia’s Andrey Kuznetsov in the first round and could face Martin Klizan in the second round.
The potential round of 16 matchups, if the seeds hold, would be:
[1] Murray vs. [13] Berdych
[9] A. Zverev vs. [8] Nishikori
[3] Wawrinka vs. [15] Monfils
[12] Tsonga vs. [7] Cilic
[5] Raonic vs. [11] Dimitrov
[14] Sock vs. [4] Nadal
[6] Thiem vs. [10] Goffin
[2] Djokovic vs. [16] Pouille
Djokovic opens with Marcel Granollers of Spain and will face either Janko Tipsarevic or Joao Sousa in the second round. Nadal opens with Benoit Paire and could face either Robin Haase or Alex de Minaur in the second round.
Full breakdown of the draw to follow.
