Nick Kyrgios came clean about his clay-court feelings today.

The 18th-seeded Aussie, who smacked 20 aces sweeping German veteran Philipp Kohlschreiber in his Roland Garros opener, says there are two simple reasons he avoids training on clay:

1. He's not a fan of running.

2. His aversion to dirt comes from an affinity for cleanliness.

"What don't I like about clay? I don't really like running," Kyrgios told the media in Paris. "That's one thing. So when the rally gets pretty long I tend to go for the low-percentage shot."

The former Wimbledon and Australian Open quarterfinalist, who typically changes his sneakers on court after reach match, said he doesn't like what dirt does to his shoes or his car.

"I also don't like how my shoes get dirty," Kyrgios said. "When I'm back home I don't really train that much on clay because it makes my car dirty, too."

Kyrgios will try to stay clean facing big-serving South African Kevin Anderson in the second round.
