Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the French Open with an injury to his left wrist. The nine-time champion broke the news at a press conference late on Friday afternoon.
“I have to retire from the tournament because I have a problem in my wrist that I have had since a couple of weeks,” Nadal said.
Nadal went on to say that he needed an injection in his wrist to play his match on Thursday. On Friday he said he felt he could not move the wrist much at all. He went on to say that doctors told him he would suffer a break if he continued to play.”
“If I keep playing it’s going to be broken in the next couple of days,” said Nadal.
