Second Serve

The rain wreaked havoc on Day 1 of the French Open on Sunday (thank goodness for the extra Sunday that the tournament’s organizers have baked into their version of a Grand Slam fortnight), but there was still some magical tennis played before things were shut down for mother nature.

Dustin Brown connected on this dreamy ‘tweener lob while serving at 2-3, 30-15 in the first set of his first round match against Dudi Sela on Sunday. As we’ve come to expect from Brown, it was an absolutely magnificent shot, lofted high above Sela’s head and landing safely inside the corner for a clean winner.

Brown would go on to take the first and third sets against Sela, and he was just about to break in the fourth set before rain ended play for the day. For those wanting to tune in for more of Brown’s dazzle, the match will be continued on Court 14 after Sloane Stephens and Margarita Gasparyan open the day on that court.
