When it comes to Swiss one-handed backhands, Stan Wawrinka’s gets all the love these days. We admit, we’ve helped encourage that sentiment. We voted Wawrinka’s backhand as a Top 5 backhand on the ATP tour a few months ago, and Roger Federer's didn’t even make the list.

Recap: Federer Downs Wawrinka to Reach Rome Final

Well, Federer said his piece last night during his semifinal with Wawrinka last night in Rome. The Swiss maestro’s backhand has looked good all week in the eternal city (the stroke can be hot and cold depending on matchup and how Federer is feeling about the shot on any given day or week), but man was it ever on point during this return game in the second set, which enabled Federer to secure a double-break lead in set two.

Take that, doubters of the Federer backhand! Maybe we should redo our list and put Federer in the five slot?
