Amelie Mauresmo is headed for the Hall of Fame.
The former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion has been elected into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Joining Mauresmo in the Class of 2015 will be David Hall of Australia, a six-time Paralympic medalist.
Longtime tennis industry leader Nancy Jeffett has been elected in the Contributor Category in recognition of her lifetime commitment to the growth of the sport, particularly in the areas of women's professional tennis and junior tennis development.
The 2015 inductees were announced today at a press conference in New York City as part of the World Tennis Day festivities, which is being celebrated around the globe tomorrow.
"I'm honored and humbled to be selected for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Tennis has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I extend my gratitude to the selection committee for recognizing my career in this way," said Mauresmo, the 2006 Wimbledon and the Australian Open champion. "It's an extraordinary honor to have my career celebrated alongside the greatest champions of our sport, people who I have admired so greatly all my life."
Former Grand Slam champions Mary Pierce, Sergi Bruguera and Yevgeny Kafelnikov were all nominated in the Recent Player Category, but only Mauresmo earned enough votes for induction into the Class of 2015.
