World No. 4 Petra Kvitova says she’s feeling rundown from a difficult start to 2015, and will therefore be skipping next week’s BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

After starting the year with a semifinal in Shenzhen and a title in Sydney (11-4 with one title in 2015), Kvitova was knocked out of the Australian Open in the third round by Madison Keys, and has lost three of her last five matches.
“I am extremely disappointed to have to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, one of my favorite tournaments on the calendar,” Kvitova said in a statement on her homepage.
“Unfortunately I have been feeling exhausted on the court in recent weeks and unable to compete at 100 percent. I will therefore be taking some time out in order to rest and restore my energy levels for the rest of the season. The fans in Indian Wells are fantastic and I am really looking forward to being back there to play in front of them next year.”
Kvitova reached the round of 16 at Indian Wells in 2014. In six career performances, the Czech’s best performance was in 2013 when she reached the quarterfinals.
