Hubert Hurkacz and the Miami Open have quite a relationship.
The Pole took the title in 2021, becoming the first man from his country to ever claim a Masters 1000 title, but he hasn’t stopped creating magic in South Florida.
On Saturday he saved five match points to squeeze past Thanasi Kokkinakis in dramatic fashion, winning the longest three-set match on the ATP Tour in 2023, 6-7(10), 7-6(7), 7-6(6).
Hurkacz saved three match points in the second set tiebreak, then another two in the third set tiebreak as he dashed the hopes of the Aussie.
Particularly noteworthy was the return winner to save Kokkinakis’ fourth match point – see all the action below, courtesy of Tennis TV.
