Holger Rune won’t turn 20 for another month and a half – at the rate he is swiftly rising up the rankings, the Dane could be in the Top-5 by that time.



After reaching the Acapulco semifinals last weekend, where he fell to Alex de Minaur in three sets, Rune rises to a career-high ranking of No.8 in the world in Monday’s ATP rankings. Not bad for a player that started 2022 outside of the Top 100.

Rune wasn’t the only player rising inside the Top-10. Russia’s Daniil Medvedev jumps another spot back to No.6 in the rankings. The 2021 US Open champion was out of the Top-10 for three weeks, but appears to have used the relegation as motivation. He’s riding a 14-match winning streak, having won three successive titles at Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai.

Paul, De Minaur Back in Top-20

The Acapulco champion and runner-up both made a return to the Top-20, with De Minaur rising to No.18 while Paul pops to No.19. De Minaur had not been in the Top-20 since last August. Paul, who made his Top-20 debut after the Australian Open on January 30, is one spot from his career-high.

Jarry Storms to 52

Chile’s Nicolas Jarry is the biggest riser inside the Top-100 this week. The 27-year-old rises 35 spots to No.52, thanks to his title in Santiago. More impressive is the fact that Jarry was ranked as low as 152 a year ago.

Jarry’s victim in the Santiago final, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, jumps to a career-high No.61. The 23-year-old rises 15 spots.
