Miami Open Announces More Wild Cards


Miami Open fans can drink in a double shot of Nick Kyrgios this month.

Kyrgios and good buddy Thanasi Kokkinakis, who won the Australian Open doubles title in January, have been awarded a main-draw doubles wild card into the Miami Open.

Last month, the Miami Open announced former world No. 1  champions Naomi Osaka and Andy Murray and Kyrgios were awarded singles wild cards into the tournament.

The 2022 Miami Open is set for March 21st-April 3rd at Hard Rock Stadium.

The remaining men’s main draw wildcards have been granted to Jack Draper, Jordan Thompson and Juncheng Shang.

World No. 5 and seven-time ATP title winner Stefanos Tsitsipas and partner Feliciano Lopez were also awarded a doubles wild card The event has one men’s doubles wildcard still available.

The eight women’s main draw wild cards features, four-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka, and 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin. Wild cards were also granted to Astra Sharma, Hailey Baptiste, Linda Fruhvirtova, Alexandra Eala, Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery.




The tournament issued a doubles wildcard to the Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula. The tournament has two women’s doubles wild cards remaining.

The tournament player field boasts Grand Slam-level talent including 15 players with a combined 26 career Grand Slam singles titles. Overall, 71 of the top 75 ranked women and 65 of the top 75 ranked men are entered to compete in Miami.

In 2022, fans can expect a greater guest experience that includes the best in art, food, fashion and music. Some new and exciting changes to the site include a new Butch Buchholz Family Stadium with seating for more than 3500, new multi-level structures hosting amazing culinary options, live entertainment, retail stores and more. Guests will have the opportunity to ride the gondola, giving them a unique bird’s eye view perspective of the site. There will also be new green spaces and sponsor activations for everyone to enjoy.

Qualifying rounds will be March 21-22 and will determine the final 12 slots in each singles’ draw.

The women’s main draw begins on Tuesday, March 22, followed by the first round of the men’s main draw on Wednesday, March 23.
