Croatia is Davis Cup Top Seed


Croatia will launch its 2022 Davis Cup quest on top.

Croatia, the 2021 Davis Cup runner-up to Russia, is top seed for the 2022 Davis Cup Finals, the International Tennis Federation announced. Reigning champion Russia and Belarus are banned from Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competition in condemnation of Russia's invasion of neighboring Ukraine on February 24th.

Spain, France and the United States round out the seeds for the Davis Cup draw, set for Thursday, March 31st, at the ITF offices in London.




The 16 nations competing in the finals have been placed in four pots.

The four seeded nations are in Pot 1 while the remaining 12 nations have been distributed in Pots 2-4 based on the latest Davis Cup rankings. On nation from each pot will be drawn into the four round-robin groups, with the four host nations placed in different groups.

Last week, Bologna, Italy, Glasgow, Great Britain, Hamburg, Germany and Malaga, Spain were announced as the four host cities for the group stages of the 2022 Davis Cup Finals set for September 14-18th.

The top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage set for November 23-27th in a location the ITF says it will announce soon.
