Gael Monfils shares the simple reason why Novak Djokovic is the best player on the planet: He's "the best on every shot."

Asked what type of player it will take to stop Djokovic's dominance, Monfils said the world No. 1 has all the answers because he possesses the best shots in the sport.

"Well, a player definitely, what type, I don't know," Monfils told the media in Miami after defeating Grigor Dimitrov in a punishing three-set win Tuesday night. "Someone that have a good inspiration, good keys, and can make him play different. We saw couple player try to chase him a little bit for sets, for games.

"But right now he's on the top of the game. He's the best on every shot. Every shot he have an answer and every question that we give it to him."

The ultra-entertaining Frenchman pointed to the "inspiration"—an allusion to a zoning Stan Wawrinka, who smacked 60 winners snapping Djokovic's 28-match winning streak in the 2015 Roland Garros final—as a key to defeating the Australian Open champion.

"I guess someone with great inspiration," Monfils said. "I feel last year, you know, who beat him was only guy be able to have great inspiration that day."

Djokovic and Monfils are long-time friends. The 11-time Grand Slam champion said Sliderman is one man he would pay money to watch play.
