"I will return at the beginning of the new season with the clear goal of playing the Australian Open in 2024," Kerber, who took part in an exhibition in Bad Homburg on Monday, said. "I want to go back to my sport, my job, and do what I love. Other mothers will certainly be able to understand that in their jobs."

The three-time major champion and mother to baby Liana has been training and plans to continue working to get into match shape for the remainder of this year.

The 35-year-old was in Germany today taking part in an emotional sendoff of former star Andrea Petkovic in an exhibition, showing good form.
