Carlos Alcaraz expanded his growing empire to the grass on Sunday at Queen’s Club, winning his first title on the surface – and 11th overall – with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the final. The 20-year-old Spaniard will return to the top of the ATP ranking for the fourth time on Monday, and head to Wimbledon as the No.1 seed as a result.
And the list of impressive milestones ticked by Alcaraz goes on from there. Here are some of the key numbers that define Alcaraz’s latest shining achievement.
2000 – Alcaraz becomes the youngest Queen’s Club champion since Lleyton Hewitt in 2000, and the fifth youngest of all-time.
17 – Alcaraz, who won the final 10 sets he contested at Queen’s Club after dropping his first set in the first round to Arthur Rinderknech, becomes the 17th active player to have won titles on all three surfaces, and the fifth youngest player to achieve the feat.
2005 – Alcaraz becomes the youngest ATP player to win his maiden title on grass since Richard Gasquet, 18 years ago.
1 – Alcaraz will return to No.1 in the ATP rankings on Monday, beginning his fourth stint at the top of the table. He will be the No.1 seed at Wimbledon, which begins in one week, on Monday July 3.
40-5 – The Spaniard improves to 40-4 on the season with five titles, thanks to his performance in London.
11-3 – Alcaraz has won 11 of the 14 finals he has contested at ATP level. When it comes to playing finals at younger than 21 years of age, only one player (Rafael Nadal) has held a higher winning percentage in ATP finals in the Open Era (at least 10 finals played).
