Second Serve

Nobody on tour understands how difficult tennis can be when injuries take hold of a career like the Tower of Tandil. He's a man that has been through more surgeries on his left wrist than most players go through racquets in a match. That’s why Juan Martin del Potro was the perfect friend to console Nicolas Almagro when a knee injury forced him to retire from his second-round battle with Del Potro on Thursday in Paris.

Watch (video above) Almagro break down in tears on the court as Del Potro hops the net and comes to his rescue.

What follows is a heartwrenching interaction between an inconsolable Almagro and a nurturing Del Potro. The Argentine took to Twitter to show some love for Almagro after the match as well.

Del Potro, who may have suffered a lower body injury himself during the match, moves on to face Andy Murray in the third round. He is making his first appearance at Roland Garros since 2012.
