Roland Garros: Djokovic Dethrones Nadal in Paris Quarterfinals
Djokovic, by virtue of reach the Roland Garros semifinals with a straight sets win over Rafael Nadal, qualified for the elite eight-man event held in November at the 02 Arena.
“I had a great start to 2015 so I am really happy to have qualified so early," Djokovic said to ATP.com on his upcoming ninth successive appearance at the event. "I hope I will have a great finish to the year too; I love playing at The O2 and have had great results there.”
The World No. 1 will seek his fifth title at the prestigious year-end championships where he will enter as three-time defending champion.
“Novak is having another incredible season on the ATP World Tour and fully deserves his place as the first qualifier for this year’s season finale," ATP Executive Chairman and President Chris Kermode said. "He continues to set the benchmark at the top of the game and it will be fascinating to see him going for a historic fourth successive crown at The O2 in London."
Djokovic holds a career 23-9 record at the year-end event. He is also on a current 27-match win streak this season along with having won the Australian Open and the first five ATP Tour 1000 Masters events. His next opponent will be Andy Murray in the French Open semifinals.
