Speaking to reporters after her three-set loss to Serena Williams in Paris, Timea Bacsinszky put an end to the silly notion that Serena Williams was pretending to be sicker than she actually was in order to “destabilize” her opponent.
Prior to the match it was reported that Williams was suffering during her practice by ESPN’s Darren Cahill. During the match, Williams was clearly depleted, but found a way to rally to secure the victory and a trip to her 24th career Grand Slam final. After the match Williams told ESPN that she has been suffering from the flu since after her third-round victory over Victoria Azarenka.
