Alize Cornet added her voice to a growing chorus of players at Roland Garros asking for a video review system.
France's No. 1 player believes she lost on Sunday to Elina Svitolina, in part, to a bad line call line during her fourth round match.
Roland Garros: Azarenka Calls For Video Review System After Serena Loss
Per The Age, Cornet described an umpire's decision against her as "shameful" in a post-match press conference.
At 5-all in the second set, Cornet faced a break point against her. During the point, Svitolina stopped play when she believed a Cornet shot had landed long. The umpire checked the mark and agreed with Svitolina.
That prompted Cornet to launch a tirade against the umpire to no avail. Cornet would save five match points, but ultimately Svitolina won 6-2, 7-6(9) to reach her first ever Grand Slam quarterfinal.
"It's a scandal," Cornet said later about the umpire's call. "It's shameful. I don't know how she could look me straight in the eye and tell me the ball was out."
Cornet when asked if Hawk-Eye, not in use currently at the French Open, could have helped the situation, thought that a video review system could also help.
"Maybe the video would have shown me that I was wrong. But I saw it," Cornet said. "It was right there. I think sometimes it would really be worth using the video."
Svitolina, when asked her thoughts on the call, took a different view on using technology instead of relying on the umpire.
"I don't think they should do Hawk-Eye on clay courts because there is a chair umpire who is deciding and seeing the mark."
Victoria Azarenka, after her loss to Serena Williams earlier in the week, started the call for a video review system after a controversial call went against her late in the second set of that match.
