Second Serve

Roger Federer is playing brilliant tennis on grass. He’s into his ninth consecutive final in Halle and will bid for his 14th grass-court title on Sunday at the Gerry Weber Open.

Halle: Federer Downs Nishikori, into Ninth Consecutive Halle Final

At 32 years old, Federer is in some of the best shape of his life. He’s 33-7 on the season and into his fifth final of the season while bidding for his second title (and 79th of his career). But Federer’s memory? Well, it appears to be fading. Watch as the Swiss maestro converts match point against Kei Nishikori on Saturday, but doesn’t realize it until after pumping his fists and getting ready for the next point.

Note to Roger: You won – the next point is tomorrow!

Federer snaps a two-match losing streak to Nishikori with the 6-3, 7-6(4) victory and will face Alejandro Falla in Sunday’s final. Federer improves his record on grass to 124-18 with the victory, and has reached his 118th career final.
