During the hotly contested fourth-set of his 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-6(5) victory over Radek Stepanek, Novak Djokovic demonstrated some remarkable sportsmanship by electing to give Radek Stepanek this crucial game point in the tenth game.

When an umpire’s erroneous call gave the Serb what appeared to be a game point, Stepanek challenged the call and got it overruled. The umpire Carlos Bernrardes then ordered the point to be replayed, but Djokovic, admitting that he was handcuffed by Stepanek’s backhand off the baseline, instructed Bernardes to give him the point.

Djokovic, with his excellent karma intact, went on to take the next two points, and eventually the set. But his sportsmanship was not lost on Stepanek and many others who saw the match:
