Spanish No. 2 Garbine Muguruza is already cashing in on her breakthrough run at Roland Garros, where she upset Serena Williams in the second round to reach the quarterfinals. The 20-year-old has signed a sponsorship deal with Mazada in Spain. The deal came to fruition through Muguruza's representation with IMG Tennis.
"Having brands that want to work with you is one of the best perks of being successful on the tennis court,” Muguruza said in a statement.
“I am very grateful to Mazda for becoming my first official partner off the tennis court and hope to be a part of the Mazda family for many years to come.”
Muguruza, who will be seeded No. 27 at Wimbledon, opens her London campaign against American Coco Vandeweghe. The two players faced off in the quarterfinals this week in 's-Hertogenbosch, with Vandeweghe winning 7-6(3), 6-1.
