The 2024 edition of Wimbledon is only one day old, and yet we may already have the point of the fortnight.
South Africa’s Lloyd Harris scrambled across all parts of Court No. 9 as he held a match point late in a final set tiebreaker against 19-year old American Alex Michelsen.

Yet it was Harris who pulled off the stunning winner to finally secure victory that left the crowd roaring and his opponent speechless.
With the wild finish, the 27-year old Harris completed the wild 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 7-6(9) comeback victory to book his place in the second round.
Harris, who once held a career high of World No. 31 back in 2021, hit 69 winners compared to the 55th ranked Michelsen’s 41 winners in the back and forth contest.
Harris will await the winner of Ben Shelton or Mattia Bellucci in the second round.
